Surface Tape

So, based on the feedback you can get from the ps3 eye I believe the tape that has been used to hold the IR led strip is probably causing too much reflection to happen on the sides of the table and thus interfering greatly with the recognition of gestures. Keep in mind that a good setup would look very close to perfect dark (straight out from the camera, with no filtering) when no fingers are touching the surface. When a finger touches the surface, a very clear blob should stand out.
